Smoke Photography

Things used:
1)1 Incense stick
2)Small lump of plasticine
3)Black shirt
4)Canon 430EX II on Phottix Aster wireless trigger
5)Lighter
6)Photoshop CS5
7)Torchlight

Set up:
I stick the incense stick on to the lump of plasticine. The flash is placed on the right hand side of the incense stick. Then I light the incense stick with the lighter. I used the torchlight to light up the smoke so it's easier for me to focus on it. The black shirt is used as background so it's easier for me to edit in photoshop. After taking the photos, I edited the picture in CS5.

Final Results:
Always loved this colour.(red+black) A friend of mine taught me this colour match.

An evening at Tanjung Bungah beach

I'm finally back on blogging! After I abandoned my blog for about 5 months.

I want to try landscape photography lately. I decided to take a picture of a sunset at the beach. So, my dad brought me to a beach. The truth is we don't know which beach to go. So we ended up at the beach behind Tanjung Bungah Hotel. Unfortunately, there's no sunset. So I forget about the sunset and compose my picture at the beach. Luckily the photos turn out to be good and I'm satisfied.

My first SLR was this one, Nikon Film-SLR. Beside it is Sigma 70mm-300mm.
was a gift from my uncle la. the SLR was functionable. but then i forgot to take out the battery for a long time. and the SLR wasn't functionable now. and the Sigma had fungus, so can't use dy, this 2 things put at home as decoration la.
Oh, the strap was very nice. atleast it's nicer than the 1 I'm using now.

Then since the SLR wasn't functionable, I didn't touch SLR for a long time. Until last year, my uncle gave me this.(he bought a D90)


Then last December(2009), I got my darling, 500D! Yay!


This tripod was a free gift when I bought my darling.


Then added this baby into the family. Macro Lens




Got this lens on the same day I bought my Macro lens, was a gift from another uncle. So I got 2 lens in a day =D


Then DIY myself a flash diffuser for Macro purpose.


This darling is the latest accesories, 430 EX II
bought it for wedding shooting purpose.

How do I shoot the lightning?

I was very lucky to take this photo coz, Mr.Albert Foo, gave a lecture during my society activity, and then I asked him about how to shoot lightnings. And the night on that same day, many lightning strikes, I quickly mounted my DSLR on the tripod and start shooting.


Many people asked me about this photo:

Q1: Is this photo edited or fresh from Camera?
A: Fresh from camera

Q2: How many shots do u take to get this?
A: around 50 shots

Q3: How long do you get this photo
A: half an hour, quite lucky

Q3: How can u press the shutter button so accurately?
A: I used shutter speed 30s, not press the shutter when the lightning strikes.

Q4: What are the settings?
A: Exposure: 30
Aperture: f/13.0
Focal Length: 18 mm
ISO Speed: 100
Exposure Bias: 0 EV
Flash: Off, Did not fire

Q5: How do u prevent camera shake?
A: as i don't have cables, i used 2sec timer lo

It's practically the same except for the camera and it's in the afternooon, not at night.
